A FUN EASY CRAFT TO MAKE WITH NO SEWING WHATSOEVER! JUST FOLLOW THE PHOTO DIRECTIONS BELOW! The bed is a small painted box (you add a bedstead!) and the comforter is glued together. The pillow is made in the same way.

MORDECAI IN THE BED:

  1. The bed can be a matchbox or any small box, painted brown.
  2. For the bedstead cut out a cardboard or paper rectangle to fit your box. Curve the ends of the rectangle according to the photograph. Paint it brown.
  3. Glue the bedstead to the bed.
  4. Add glue to the inside bottom of the bed. Fill the bed half-full with fiberfill.

TO MAKE THE BEDDING:

  1. Cut a piece of fabric 4.5” (11.5cm) x 8” (20.5 cm) to make the comforter.
  2. Fold in the raw edges on all sides, making a narrow hem. Glue them down.
  3. Fold the fabric in half. Place fiberfill on one half.
  4. Glue all the edges together. Tuck the comforter into the bed on top of the fiberfill.
  5. The pillow is made in the same way from fabric 3” (7.5 cm) x 3.5” (9 cm)

TO MAKE MORDECAI:

  1. For Mordecai’s robe cut  felt 2.5” (6.5 cm) x 1.5” (3.5 cm)
  2. Insert a mini craft stick into a 1” (2.5 cm) styrofoam ball. This will be the head.
  3. Cut a 2”( 5 cm) square of panti-hose or nylon stocking and stretch it tightly around the styrofoam ball.
  4. Secure tightly around the “neck” with a pipe cleaner or wire. Trim off the excess fabric and wire.
  5. Glue the scrap of felt around the body. Make a stapled “pleat” in the centre.
  6. Add googly eyes and a beard. The beard can be made from yarn or from “roving” (unspun wool available in some yarn shops or on the Internet.
